Happy Giving Tuesday!

With all of the holiday shopping deals and upcoming gatherings with family and friends, it is easy to get caught up in the craziness and forget the true meaning of the season — giving. At Doherty Insurance, we believe it is so important to give back and to acknowledge all of the amazing work that nonprofits are doing, especially for our Merrimack Valley community.

To celebrate Giving Tuesday, a global generosity day, we would like to highlight a few of our community spotlights we have supported this year.

Andover Center for History and Culture — As a local non-profit, The Andover Center for History and Culture is constantly working to preserve Andover’s History and to gather and share Andover's unique stories with the goal of building a connected and engaged community.

Greater Lawrence Community Boating —  An organization that provides and opportunity for residents of Greater Lawrence, regardless of income, to enjoy sailing and rowing on the Merrimack River.  The program is particularly devoted to making sure all children (and adults) are able to enjoy the water while also learning critical safety and team building skills.

Lawrence History Center — Founded in 1978 as the Immigrant City Archives by German immigrant Eartha Dengler, the Lawrence History Center’s mission is to collect, preserve, share, and animate the history and heritage of Lawrence and its people.

Elder Services of Merrimack Valley — A non-profit agency helping older adults (and their families)  and persons with disabilities who reside in the 23 communities of the Merrimack Valley in Northeast Massachusetts. Since 1974, this organization has worked to support an individual’s choice to remain independent in their own home and community by ensuring programs and services are available and accessible.

The YWCA of Northeastern Massachusetts — As an organization with a vision for peace, they are adamant about taking all women into their housing if they are in need especially if they are victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. They also offer services such as healing circles for women currently in treatment for any type of cancer, women’s health advocacy, court advocacy with their two full-time Court and Legal Advocates, rape crisis services, tranisitional housing programs, and economic empowerment amongst many more.

SHED Children's Campus — An organization with a mission to create safe spaces in which every child can thrive. The organization was created in 1984 to fulfill the needs of working parents. Today, they provide before/after school care and summer programs for children between the ages of 2.5 - 15 years old at the beautiful grounds at Phillips Academy.

Pan Mass Challenge — The largest single athletic charity event in the country, the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), brings together thousands of impassioned cyclists, committed volunteers, generous donors and dedicated corporate sponsors each year to raise and donate 100% of their proceeds to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Ironstone Farm — A nonprofit Andover horse farm providing equine therapy, and educational and recreational riding programs that change lives using the dynamic power of horseback riding and the environment of a farm to combine several therapies into one highly effective one.

This Giving Tuesday we encourage you to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
